Do I need to un-install my previous version of TERMS/MSDS Standard to install my New Version?

The program was designed for software updates to be applied without the need to un-install previous versions.  If you need to un-install TERMS from your computer make sure that you have a current back up of the following files:  msds.mdb, tier2.mdb and scans folder that are typically within the WT32 folder.   The TERMS software does indicate that an uninstall will result in the removal of your data and offers the user an option to  cancel the removal process.

I am Using Version 2.x, can I update directly to Version 2.(current).0 or do I have to install previous versions first?

You may move directly from Version 2.x to Version 2.5 without the need to install the incremental revisions.  However, you must follow use the following install options from the CD-Rom auto-install menu:

For Versions 2.0 through 2.3                    Conduct a Full Installation to Version 2.(current).0

For Version 2.4                                            Conduct the Update Installation to Version 2.(current).0

If I install Version 2.x on one user’s machine, do I have to install to all (Lan Version only)?

Yes, once the DBUpdate utility is run (mentioned above), all users who have the previous version will receive an error that they do not have the most recent version of the software.  You will need to update all the users’ pcs first, then run DBUpdate.   To speed the process of installation for a large number of pcs, we support deployment agents such as SMS (Microsoft System Management ).  Our installation program is created by Installshield and has an MSI file.  For more details please see Section 7.0 of the Adminguide.pdf regarding Silent Installation.

How do I print out the index I see when I open the program? Or Does the Program print out Summary Reports?

How can I backup my databases (Program)?

The TERMS®/MSDS Standard™ programs do not have a backup feature. We suggest that you use a removable data storage mechanism for large databases such as a Tape or ZIP drive.  You can also backup to your network since networks tend to be backed up regularly.  If your databases are small, you can use WinZip© or PKWare© PKZIP for Windows to backup the files to diskettes or small zip files for storage.  The database names are typically called, MSDS.MDB and TIER2.MDB as well as the Scans exterior directory (if you have scanned images).

What does the message, "The program is expecting an earlier msds.mdb please run DBUpdate."  Then, it says "The system was not completely initialized". What does this mean?

You need to run DBUpdate, which is a utility under the MCT MSDS Software Group (Version 2.4 and higher) or (Corbus MSDS Software in 2.0 - 2.3).  Open the utility and when Ready appears, select File then Update Databases for Program Update.  When Ready appears again, select File then Exit.  You should be able to open TERMS with no problems.

What does the message "At least one part number is required for inventory entry." mean?

The particular MSDS you selected for inventory needs to have a part number association.  To do this, highlight the MSDS in the list of MSDSs and select, MSDS and  then EDIT.  Go to the 8 Keys (or 1b Header)  tab and click on  the Add Part Number button.  Type in the part number of the MSDS and then click on OK.  Click on OK or APPLY to save the changes made.  You will be able to add inventory information as well as that MSDS's ingredients considered for compilation of various regulatory reports.

Where is the Scanning Module Icon ?

I have to move the program to another PC, what steps should I take to re-install Version 2.x? or What are your Disaster Recovery Procedures for your program?

To move your MSDS data one pc to another or  need disaster recovery procedures as well as differences in data storage between our older Versions and Version 2.x, please see the following (We recommend that you print out this information, filled out the bottom and store in a safe location:

TERMS/MSDS Standard 1.x used the following default program location: WT

TERMS/MSDS Standard 2.x uses the following default program location: WT32

To fully clarify where your MSDS information is, note the DataPath Statement within the [system] section of the corresponding INI file. Your Scanned Images (if applicable) are noted after the ScansCache= Statement.

TERMS 1.x used the following file: WT.INI <-location is the operating system root directory

TERMS 2.x uses the following file: WT32.INI <-location is the operating system root directory

Never delete any previous versions of our program before clarifying where your data is truly located.  There are some Version 2.x installations out in our customer base still using the WT folder for the data, and program resides in the WT32 folder.  They have deleted the WT folder and therefore, deleted their Version 2.x data.

Please note according to what program version you are using what is specified after DataPath= before deleting data and knowing what files to backup.  For easy reference, we have added this section to the installation instructions that you can use for your reference:

 WT32.INI                DataPath=___________________________

Backup settings            ___________________________________

Files to backup: msds.mdb, tier2.mdb and scans directory within the items mentioned above .

When restoring a backup for Disaster Recovery, the following should be completed:

        1.                  Install most recent CD-Rom of TERMS and run the

                            Registration Wizard.

       2.                 Check for any version updates in the following location:

                             http://www.maxcomononline.com/cs/download.htm

        3.                 From your backup, copy the following to the location specified within

your WT32.INI file and DataPath= Statement:

        a)      msds.mdb

        b)      tier2.mdb

        c)      Scans exterior directory.

4.             Open the TERMS/MSDS Standard program to verify that all information is intact.  If asked to run DBUpdate, locate this file within the MCT MSDS Software or Corbus MSDS Software  in the Program Group folder and then DBUpdate.
